Royal Comet wrestling update:

Last Wednesday The Comets defeated Gates Chili 57-6 improving there league record to 1-1 and 6-3 overall. Over this past weekend the Comets traveled to one of Section 4's premier tournaments in Watkins Glenn NY. The team fininshed 3rd out of 22 teams and had 10 wrestlers finish in the top 6. The team also won the sportsmanship award voted on by the Officials for the teams hustle and Character. I think the entire team should be very proud of this recognition.
96lbs. John Northrup 3rd
- upset the #3 seed
112lbs. Mike Miller 2nd- first tournament finals as a Varsity wrestler
119lbs. Josh O'Shea 5th- battled hard through the wrestlebacks
130lbs. Sean Grove 5th- battled hard through the wrestlebacks
135lbs. Andrew Lembaris 2nd- upset the #3 seed and #2 to reach the finals
140lbs. Jon Roberts Champion and MOW- never let his opponents have a chance
145lbs. Ian Shoenberger 3rd- every week he demonstrates consistent outstanding effort
152lbs. Ben Johnstone 3rd- only loss was to a state place finisher from Pennsylvania
215lbs. Pat Sullivan 5th- wrestled hard throughout the weekend
285lbs. Tim Demersman Champion- simply out hustled and was more aggressive than anyone in his weight.

This team has experienced one of the most difficult schedules we have ever taken on and this up coming week is no different. We will be wrestling at #16 in the state and league rival Fairport this Wednesday at 7:00 followed by a trip to the University of Buffalo to take on #8 in the State Niagara Wheatfield and #22 letchworth. What's special about this team is that they are excited to wrestle the better compitition around the state. They thrive on the Challenge and know that it only makes them better wrestlers down the stretch. Effort and attitude are key elements to the core of this sport and every week they are improving.
